Dori Halbert

Dori is passionate about changing the negative attitudes in our society toward those living with mental health challenges, particularly for people of faith. Dori’s personal journey of healing inspired her to become a licensed counselor and founder of Refuge Counseling Centers in Idaho. (www.refugecounseling.com)

She has been offering counseling services to individuals and families since 2003. Dori has a Master of Education degree in counseling and a Doctorate in Transformational Leadership.

She has been serving alongside her husband, Jim, in various church leadership and ministry roles for the past forty years.

Jim Halbert

Jim has many years of experience as a church planter, lead pastor of a multi-site congregation, adjunct professor, and has taught in Africa, Europe, and Asia.

With a Doctorate in Transformational Leadership, Jim has a heart for leaders walking through challenging ministry seasons. He is passionate about listening to their stories and helping them pursue God and His purposes for them.

Jim loves teaching Scripture in its historical and cultural context and has led groups to Israel on several occasions.

Statement of Faith

Ministry coaches and licensed counselors at Sanctuary Coaching and Counseling share a common biblical worldview that encompasses the tenets of the historic Christian faith as outlined below.

What we believe about God:

In the eternally existing Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
In God the Father who concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of man.
In Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, teachings, His atoning death, resurrection, ascension into heaven, and promise of His personal, visible return to earth and the establishing of His kingdom.
In the Holy Spirit and His present ministry of rebirth and renewal as well as the giving of spiritual gifts to each follower of Christ.

What we believe about humans:

That all people have sinned yet are made in the image of God. Only repentance and faith in Christ can restore us into fellowship with God.
In the global Church and the living spiritual body, of which Christ is the Head and all regenerated persons are members.
In the sanctity of all life.
In the historical biblical view of marriage as a covenant union between one man and one woman. Sex is meant to be experienced and enjoyed in the context of this covenantal relationship.

What we believe about faith:

In the Bible as the fully inspired Word of God, the only infallible rule for faith and practice.
In water baptism and communion as a means of grace from God to us.
In the fundamental facts of the Christian faith affirmed the historic orthodox creeds of the church.
